The Greek Mythology Behind Hyacinths
Hyacinths are a bell-shaped flower with a strong fragrance. Greek Mythology tells the tale of a young Greek boy who was Hyakinthos. Two Gods adored Hyakithos and fought for his attention. One day while the boy was being taught to throw a discus by Apollo the Sun God, Zephyr the God of Wind blew a strong wind in a jealous fit. The discus hit and killed Hyakinthos. A flower then grew from his blood which Apollo named Hyacinth.

Beautiful shot! The hyacinth is one of my favorite flowers. I look forward to their blooming in the spring! I can almost smell the sweet fragrance!
