Rise & Shine It's 6 A.M.

Reminder To Self: Go to bed prior to 2:30 a.m. when I plan to rise at 5:30 a.m.

61 photography crazed persons joined me in the wee hours to catch the sunrise.

Coffee (great amounts of coffee) helped me steady the tripod and focus on the horizon.

What do you think? A Jonathan Livingston Seagull wanna be?

Pure magic! This is what made my 6 a.m. start worthy.

When I was low to the sand taking the "Viewpoint" photograph, someone tripped and
landed in the water, smack in my frame. Lucky me, fun capture!

Conclusion: Get up at least once a year to absorb the wonders of the sun rising!

Fall Walk in the Park

Fall colours; best photographers palette! This was my favourite shot of the day.

We belong to a few Photography Meet Up Groups.
Last weekend 64 in our group hit the trails in search of vibrant fall leaves.

Early morning sunshine creating a little bit of heaven.

I now have an urge to decorate a room in this palette.

Someone commented this photograph looked like the water was on fire.

It's that time of year when rivers are plenty with salmon working hard to swim upstream to spawn.

Scattered along the path were milk weed pods bursting open and throwing their seeds to the wind.

As I was setting up this shot, balanced on a steep cliff's edge - who moves in front but my husband.
Makes an interesting shot. Why yes.
The thought did occur to me to push him in the creek for squeaking into my frame.

Buskerfest Toronto 2011

Street Art at its finest; Busterfest Toronto, took place August 25 & 26

Like a child at their first circus show, I stood mouth gabbing at all the wonders.
There's more...

The Space Cowboy ~ An Australian Dare Devil

Dazzling audiences in over 30 countries with up to 20,000 onlookers.

No party is complete without "The King".
I just don't want to think how long it took to put this makeup on. I'm getting itchy just thinking of it! The Silver Elvis robotic statue, is the creation of Peter Jarvis a Toronto performance artist.

The streets were crawling with creepy Jesters

The eloquent and flexible Australia contortionist "Bendy Em"

There was also the sweet, strum of violins

The sidewalks never looked better, graced with the talents of the chalk-master's works.

Front Street never smelled better either!

And would any event I attend ever be complete without me scoping out the pooches!

It may be over, but I am already dreaming about next year!

Charms of Flowers

To analyze the charms of flowers is like dissecting music; it is one of those things which it is far better to enjoy, than to attempt to fully understand.

First of the Month: July

First of the Month Meme
As time goes on this is getting tougher! I want my subject matter to be the same, the lighthouse, but I also want each month to be unique. This month I took a ton of photographs! Each one looked like another month. Oddly enough, this was the first shot I took as I walked on the path towards the pier. I barely stopped as I snapped it. Funny how it wound up being my pick because of it's unique perspective. The next photo was a close second. I love how it screams July with the crowd on the pier, sailboat and jet ski on the water.

Next month is gonna be tough!! See you then.

Stomp'n Through the Zoo!

Zoo animals are ambassadors for their cousins in the wild ~ Jack Hanna
So all winter I whined over the cold weather. Can you believe I had the gull to whine over the unusually warm weather earlier last week? If you hadn't guessed yet, I am a woman :) However the last 3 days of the week turned out to be the best weather days for me! I am a person who likes sunshine, summer clothes but a nice cool breeze; and that is just what I got. So Thursday I headed out to the Toronto Zoo as it a perfect day for a long hike. Cooler weather also means more wakeful animals and I am really pleased with a few photos.

Well except this these two sleepy heads.

Every time I go to the Zoo I learn a new fact on another animal. This time I learned that girl giraffes have tuffs of hair on top of their head and boy giraffes are bald. Fits with my experience on a few of my friends...

No Hair Means It's a Boy!
The other fact I learned is probably logical to everyone but me! I didn't know the snow leopard is the only animal at the Toronto Zoo with an air-conditioned den. For some reason I would have thought the polar bears would have had one too.

A very vocal Snow Leopard Today!

So you see! There's no end to the things you might know.

Not a Friend Insight For This Little Guy
The main attraction of the day was the Endangered African Penguin. Seriously the cutest new addition to the Toronto Zoo in a long time. These guys are small, black and white playful animals.

At the end of the day the choice was made. This year we are going to get an annual family membership. It's such a great location to go and work off a few miles in an enjoyable atmosphere, a camera buffs dream and only a short drive from our house.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover ~ Mark Twain
Wow does June's First of the Month capture scream SUMMER!! I decided to take a closer view of the lighthouse at Whitby harbour. I am glad I did as I think the lingering people, the sailboat gracing the back of the photograph just scream summer is here! Keep that sunshine happening!

Looking forward to visiting all the other participants in the meme group "First of the Month". I really love this meme idea and group. I think its fun to follow all the changes in the photos over time. I also find it challenging to make sure my photo has a little bit of something new to offer you even though its the same place, same time but different month. See you in July... oh no, that will mean summer is half way over!
